Lazy Saturday! |Blue Mountains Photographer

Well after my recent Photo of the day project I put the camera down for a few days and did lots of computer work. I have placed lots of orders and sorted a few programs that I bought but had not taken the time to learn, but I was having withdrawals, so when I looked over at my little man having a few minutes rest watching my iPhone with lovely light coming through the window I decided it was time to get the camera out!

I have also managed to get all my January photos of my family ordered today. well in the folder ready to order. I ordered a large 20×25 print for the wall and the rest in a possible new product!!! Once I get it if I like it and think it is suitable I will add it to my packages. Stay tuned for an update on that. For now I am just excited to be ordering 150 photos of my family!

Hope everyone else is having a relaxing or exciting weekend! I have a busy week coming up. I have to enrol this week in my course and well after that – BUSY BUSY BUSY is what I am expecting…

Oh my did someone say High School? | Blue Mountains Photographer

Oh boy!!! I sent my eldest off to High School today. Well actually I didn’t he and his mates set off together. They all got together and banned the Mummies and cameras and headed off by themselves. I knew my son was ready so this came as no surprise. Also one of the reason we chose the local High School was so he had some independence but wow started first day. So proud of him. He is growing so fast and he is ready for it!

I remember being nervous going to high school for the first time, he and his mates are cool as about it all. I went out and started singing “off to high school” and his mates just looked at me and replied – yeah as they shrugged their shoulders to indicate SO WHAT???

Here he is in his uniform. I was lucky to get these, well actually I resolved to threatening to turn up at school with my huge lens if he did not let me grab a few shots in the front yard. Even mentioned I’d do it tomorrow when the older years are there too!! Heheheheh mean Mum!

So my POTD of the summer holidays is over! I am back to work with my first session on the 6th of February. Plenty of ordering and packaging to do before then and of course back to processing James and Rebecca’s wedding photos. I have had a fantastic break, have really enjoyed these holidays with the kids, very grateful that there were only a few hot days and am now feeling refreshed and ready to take on 2010!!!!

I am only taking a few more bookings for the Queensland trip so if you are considering please let me know.

Thanks for following my POTD over the last 40 or so days. I can’t wait to bring you all my client sessions this year!!

I did take photos today but as today is Monday I am posting another photo taken by my 12 year old son. He has been out in the yard today practicing on getting his focus spot on. So I thought I’d give him a body to focus on! This is the view most of you see of me!

As I have been banned from going anywhere by children who just want to stay home, I have been trying to get holidays organised. I am having a hard time which is not like me – I love to travel but feel Blah about it at the moment. We have our Barrier reef trip organised, so I thought I’d move on to organising the 2011 holiday which should be a big one. Just not sure where to start. Life changes so much in that amount of time so arrrgghhhh to hard to know where to go! We have a week to use though and if I don’t plan it soon will lose it!!!! So back to researching dates and locations. Thinking France? USA? ohhhh no idea!

Ok have a relaxing day. Maybe a little nap is what I need?

POTD 36,37 and 38! | Blue Mountains Photographer

Ok so I got a little carried away doing the photos from day 35 that I forgot to add these this morning!

Friday I went out for dinner with some friends from school. _ easy to say old friends but we are ignoring the fact that we are old and that it was our 20 year school reunion that got us all back in contact again. I realised when I sat down that I had not taken a photo of the day so whipped out my iPhone and took one of the pizza! We ordered so much food and ate hardly any, it was way too hot to eat so unfortunately as bad as we felt about it we just could not eat it.
Pizza!

Saturday we went shopping for School supplies including shoes. I hate shopping so much and really did not have the patience for dealing with going into every shop and listening to the children say – I don’t like those. So I took the little ( nice ) one for a coffee break!

Tonight we are having our family favourite Salt and Pepper Salmon. This is little H helping Daddy!

Yesterday i headed down to the city with a photographer friend who was visiting Sydney. She has a few sessions booked while she is down so we spent the day yesterday testing locations and scouring for great places. We used my kids as the models! It was a long hot day BUT very successful. Was fun working with someone else and having photography related conversations. You know- Wow the light here, look at the texture of that wall. OHHH what a lovely fence… all the kind of stuff if I walked about saying with my Non-photog friends they’d think I was mad.

I have a friend visiting today so need to shower and get the house ready! so have only processed a few, but tomorrow I will do a few more.

Here they are….

Today was a day filled with bits and pieces. Another trip to the Optometrist, a visit to my husband for lunch ( a complete flop! we ended up having a junk food lunch in a food court by his work. None of us besides him eat it and so we all sat there while he ate his meal then all of the kids meals as of course they did not like it. Not mine – I decided not to even order! YUCK!!! ) we did make up for it by going for a walk down by a large man made lake that had huge fish and eels in it, and some other visitors had a loaf of bread so we got to see these huge fish jumping out of the water for the food and fighting for it. Then we headed to the DVD store and have spent the rest of the afternoon relaxing around the house.

I took our little man out side for a quick play with his tools and Bob hat! So grabbed a few shots of him! Some of these tools belonged to our eldest – we thought we had thrown all his toys out well before we decided to have this little guy, and to our surprise found them packed away. So bonus! And of course he loves them. Gets them out when ever his dad gets his tools out!

Big day tomorrow. After lunch we are headed down to the city to do a walk around the Rocks with an out of town Photographer who has some sessions booked down here on Friday. Getting very close to the end of the school holidays, which means time for me to get back to work too! I am taking bookings now for March still have a few dates available in February too! SO if you are interested in a session let me know. Of course I am still taking bookings for the Great Barrier Reef Road trip too! See above for dates!

We headed down to the movies today only to be too late to get tickets- so we ended up shopping instead. I bought the kids new outfits to wear for a shoot I have planned for them on Thursday, which I am really looking forward to!

Then we went to the park for a little relaxation and play before meeting a friend for Coffee. We are home and exhausted! So just hanging out – doing washing to get the new clothes ready and reading books in my bed! Here is todays POTD – H and his books! He is not really a book reader and does not often sit long enough to have a book read to him but every now and then he carts books around in big piles and flips through them.

Hudson--018

another busy day tomorrow! so might go and join the kids on the lounge and watch a DVD!

Thanks for stopping by, If you know of anyone with a little baby who is sitting alone but not yet crawling I am looking for 3 babies to model for me, the parents will get their choice of image as an 8×10 enlargement, can you please pass my details on to them!!! I am wanting to put my new home studio to use, I have a few new props and backdrops that I want to try out, so the parents would be required to bring the baby to Blaxland NSW. I would be using these photos for my portfolio so a model release would need to be signed giving me permission to use the images taken on my website and blog.

We went into town again today, this time visiting the Australian Museum. Fantastic day! they have a wildlife photographer of the year exhibition on at the moment. Photos taken by children as young as under 10 all the way through to older Photographers. My son has had his interest sparked – getting my old camera and lens out tomorrow ( which I had purposely kept for him anyway) He also is the one who took my portrait today. He did a good job, I got all the settings right then passed it to him to focus – which he did well in the shot I am showing. We can practice on that and I think he will be a very good photographer!

So this is me in Hyde park this morning, when we arrived we bought some food and picnic’ed in Hyde Park before heading into the Museum. Not a self Portrait today but a photo of me which is technically very good. Still a photo of me though so of course I am very critical. Cam is very pleased with himself and so he should be. This is taken at f2.8 on my 100mm with my Speed light – so he did very well!!! Can’t wait to teach him everything about settings. He is very interested so should learn easily – as young ones do when they are interested.

ME-wk-3

In the Museum they had specimens that you could photograph – with studio set up – backdrop tables and over head lighting. So I started teaching him a little – tomorrow before we head out to the movies and to meet friends I’ll give him a lesson! See what he comes up with.

Well a huge day so early night is called for!

Thanks for stopping by, hope you are all making the most of the little time we have left of the summer holidays. I had Friday free this morning but filled that too so busy week! with lots of photo opportunities!
